From where I'm sitting, as it stands, it's pretty good (don't play MP). It is absolutely incredibly brilliant where it gets things right, but it is far from getting everything right. I'd say they are about one large, or maybe two smaller, patches away from what would have been an *acceptable* 1.0 release. Thanks for your input Aero. I'm sure I'll enjoy this sim quite a lot when I get to play it next week. I do plan on doing a lot of cooperative MP though.

I have had the game for a while and it has improved over three small patches, I have heard that another one may be released today, we'll see. I ordered mine through Just Flight and downloaded through Steam after fudging my address to the UK (lol) It took a while for me to create a workable stick profile which is still a WIP so plan on learning to fly again it's worth it. Yeah, I'm working on a stick profile, too. One thing I don't like about CoD is that when you give your own key command for one of those blank in-game commands, it doesn't warn you if you entered an already-used command.
The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

I do hope for another major patch before the US release, because for the time being I've pretty much given up CoD.
The devs so far have managed to improve the performance considerably, if they manage to fix/improve the major issues I still have with the game it can still become a classic, despite its botched release.

Christ Furbs you don't have to be positive, even those of us who are enjoying the game gripe about it. We just don't generally go on about conspiracy theories, or cry that Oleg did not give us what he owes us.

The devs so far have managed to improve the performance considerably, This is definitely great to hear and I agree that as long as the devs are still working on improving the sim, we can only be optimistic!

Dart...Do we know when the SIM HQ review will be taking place and who's doing it? I'll need it for about a week before I write up the review, then probably another in review and edit. I'm sure everyone will disagree with it, since I haven't "taken a side" other than the side that is entirely fed up with the taking of sides. It's not the root code of the Internet or firmware to the life support machines in an ICU, it's a flight sim. Should be some good, some bad, some fantastic and some outright terrible. At worst it'll be a waste of forty bucks, which will most definately not be a low point in my life. The day that how good or bad a flight sim plays brings forth a lasting emotional response is the day I start flailing my hands about in a desperate attempt to find the handle of perspective. Hopefully it'll show its colors early on and not turn stinker halfway through like Crysis. There will also be some other articles about the sim by other staff members to get different viewpoints and look at it from different angles.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

So long as the game does not have an engaging career mode, it's a no sale for me. It can have the greatest visuals and damage model in the world, but if the SP mode does not have strong replay value, then it's not worth my time.

Thank the invisible pink unicorn that the only immersion I need is from the cockpit.
But strong replay value I agree with. That's why I go for the most dynamic and ever changing style of play there is, playing against humans. The replay value changes every single second of every time you fly.

Don't listen whiners. The game is absolutely fantastic in its current state. The best looking game I have ever seen. The lack of content, planes if more precisely, is only serious drawback. All those bugs people grumble about are so minor you would hardly notice them until someone point them to you. You think the graphics are better than RoF? So long as the game does not have an engaging career mode, it's a no sale for me. It can have the greatest visuals and damage model in the world, but if the SP mode does not have strong replay value, then it's not worth my time. This. I really want to have a WWII game to play, but don't have the money or the time to devote to something that is not going to engage for more than a couple of missions.

You think the graphics are better than RoF?Streets better, miles better, convincing. Convincing's half the battle for immersion Rise of Flight took the chance to develop the sim into a work of art under their own very satisfyingly-naturalistic Digital Nature engine, CoD developers stuck with the Il-2 engine when they had promised us a fresh look at the Battle of Britain world. CoD developers called their sim Cliffs of Dover, that was a major blunder and it should have been called '[Someone's perhaps] Battle of Britain'. There's no resonance in 'The Pebbles of Brighton' not 'Brighton Rock' for example, titles are half the battle. Even if we're not quite sure why http://www.e-onsoftware.com/about/?page=CorporateOverviewOops Gennadich Team started mod of IL-2, related to WWI. However IL2 engine was limited in some subsystems and it was impossible to implement all needed features Primary needed feature seems to have been 'immersive'... and thank goodness. Look at those airfields. Aerodromes. They've even got cooler names Ming

The replay value changes every single second of every time you fly. Bliss, we've been around this block plenty enough. But, once again: Not everyone has the time or inclination for multiplayer, and in my case, that's largely due to the times I play (very late at night, Pacific Time).

I love the graphics in RoF, but I much prefer the ones in CoD. The fact that they still need optimization makes their current state more impressive in a way.

I love the graphics in RoF, but I much prefer the ones in CoD. CoD can look stunningly beautiful under certain lighting conditions (dawn with mists hanging around the fields is my favourite), but it IMO suffers badly from the popping-up of ground objects, the blurry textures in the distance and (IMHO) a rather garish colour palette. RoF doesn't offer quite the ground detail CoD does but IMO it looks more natural, and I especially love the change in colours as you climb higher.

OT:
letterboy, you REALLY need to OC your CPU. As said before, really easy, for now you are running your CPU only at around 75 % of what it`s capable.
btw. once you get the sim, I`m really interested if you suffer the stuttering I get, as our systems are very similar. Please report back.
