Yeah I'm pretty excited about this. I haven't flown a decently modeled Harrier since the mid 1990's... I'm pumped about this news!

This is most excellent and I am eagerly looking forward to playing it. The RAF Harrier is being modeled in the first installment correct, not the Sea-Harrier?

Harrier Gr.3 means no Ferranti Blue Fox and NAVHARS to model, making possible the release of the first installment in the short time frame announced. The Sea Harrier will be released later. However, the Gr.3 does have the Ferranti laser rangefinder and the Marconi ARI 18228/13 Passive Warning Receiver.

Not really sure what you said, but haha, I'm sure I will be speaking the harrier lingo soon enough.
Hell, I could tell people about the AWG-9 when I was 8.
How are you going to go about distributing it? Paypal?

I don't think the final version of that Seven-G sim is planned to be free either -- only the demo.
What is free is TSH addons -- still gotta have Janes FA-18 for that however.

Site you've linked is not official 7G website. It's maintained by a guy who has nothing to do with 7G anymore, but he is accepting donations for a game someone alse is developing. This is their official site: http://www.seveng-f18.com/

You can count me as another customer. The staged release process makes me feel a little funny, like I'm buying an unfinished game 1-2 times, but no game is released finished anymore I suppose. Every game I buy feels like a beta release for the first few weeks or months after release. Buying a game in stages shouldn't really feel that different....
I'm a pretty jaded gamer if you can't tell...
I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

Ok ok. No need to crucify me. My mistake.
Its just personal experience, as soon as money come into play... greed happens.
Apart from that... i've been craving for a Harrier sim (proper).

Release is scheduled for late 2010, download only, at a of price €20 (plus VAT when applicable). Can't go wrong at a price like that. I've been looking forward to this title for quite some time. Great to hear it won't be much longer now.

Awesome! Sold +1. Why is it so cheap I wonder? Anyway,at last I get to fly something BRITISH.No offence to all our American friends but I've flown enough F15's,F16's etc to last a lifetime. However I will need some of your excellent Sidewinder missiles

Spectacular! At least one copy will be going to Norway the day it is released
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Because Jet Thunder: Falklands/Malvinas Conflict is a large and complex project it will be release in three 'stages' where each stage builds upon the feedback from customers and adds more features. That means they are releasing an open Beta that you will pay for. The first two products will be digital download only, while the last (and final) version will be available in download and worldwide in boxed form. I'll wait for the boxed (finished) version.

That means they are releasing an open Beta that you will pay for. Seems to become a standard for niche PC games lately (DCS now, and I guess you could say ArmA2 too), but if that means those game are actually getting released, then I'm all for it.

Thats your choice Richardg, but I firmly believe that our niche market needs to be supported 110% and if buying an open beta first then a second and third version helps maintain the developers we have, so be it .

Not everybody has to chip in and buy the BETA version -- some will, some won't. Doesn't make you a bad person if you prefer to wait. But enough will, I suspect, that it will make a difference for Dante and TW and his new partners in terms of generating some operating capital for the project. This is just the way this business is going to have to work. Dante did a hell of a job getting it this far.

"The Harrier is expertly modeled and fully operational. From a 'cold and dark' start, all the way to shut down the systems are as they are in the real aircraft." I've been following Jet Thunder for a long time and I'm looking forward to having a realistic harrier sim. However, this screenshot looks pretty gamey http://www.aerosoft.com/forum_screens/jetthunder/010.jpgNotice that there is an extra item (the >>>) on the hud plus a target marker outside the hud. So the question is WTF are these? Is this some sort of a ....game? I don't want to fly a plane in which there is a "turn here to find the next enemy"-helper. That is too arcade. Hopefully this is only for the noob-mode...

Dante has mentioned these in earlier updates, they are optional depending on the settings the user chooses (similar to a lot of other sims out there) so I think you'll be happy with the result.

What a fantastic surprise!! Call me a Negative Nancy, but that's the last thing I expected. I recently pre-purchased the digital download to DCS:A-10C, and I'll definitely do the same for Jet Thunder when it's available. Q4-2010 is shaping up to be an unbelievable year-end!!

20 Euros? Seems cheap? Do we have to buy then next releases too at similar sort of costs or are we buying the entire thing for the 20?

I think its not so much a Beta (like A-10C) as a phased release, so each module will probably cost about the same. Or maybe half-as much again Keith The RAF Harriers only flew ground attack (see Jerry Pook's book RAF-Harrier-Ground-Attack-Falklands ) But could have assisted the Navy Sea Harriers on CAP perhaps, even though they have no radar. Wonder if a mission editor will be included?...this was mentioned a long time ago...hope its in the 1st module. Cheers, Keith

Seeing that the A-10C is a bit more limiteded in operational scope (no carrier ops, no real air/air aircraft) I'll prefer this Harrier I guess. More variety in flying, and a bit simpler systems too. Great news.

True I did travel through time into the future when I came back from my trip to England. I prefer being in the future, but we do have to wait for those slow pokes in the USA to catch up. Maybe the release is in

From Thunderworks news dated 1 Jan 2011: Happy New Year Everyone! Are the wishes of Aerosoft and Thunderworks. We have accomplished a lot in 2010. For example, in the 2 to 3 months following our signing with Aerosoft, we added the following features: - Clickable cockpits with animated switches - Several HUD modes for the Harrier, including Reversionary mode - Gunsight with depression settings, set wingspan, range etc - New clouds method, able to render cloud formations at up to 120km distance with very little overhead (previous method was limited by sector size, causing severe pop up artifacts, and so was replaced) - Cockpit self-shadows - Time of day 24hrs simulation (displaying constellations at night, etc) - New and improved models for several types of Anti-Aircraft units used in the 1982 conflict - New AI helicopters ...and more; effectively setting JT firmly in the track of being a realistic sim focused in a specific public (true flight simmers of course!)

Just curious, were those things you hadn't thought you'd be able to put in the original release (pre-aerosoft), or is this more of a "current project status" news post?
Either way, this is good to hear! Looking forward to the clickable pits, makes a huge difference in things like the engine start procedure, where there's a lot of buttons you only click once during the whole flight.

- Time of day 24hrs simulation (displaying constellations at night, etc) Does this mean that appropriately-educated pilots can navigate by starlight?
