I downloaded it and got a 352_cross_Channe_Map.exe

I ran that to a temp folder and in that folder got just two folders - MODS and MISSIONS.
And five files under the temp folder:
flc.exe
Welcome_to_The_Cross_Channel_Map.pds
Welcome_to_The_Cross_Channel_Map.txt
xcopy.exe
xdel.exe

In the installation instructions it says:
2. Copy the contents of the "MODS_CCM_Insert" folder to your "
\\Mods" folder.

I find no such folder.

Any ideas?

If you wish to install the map manually use a program such as 7zip to extract it to a folder. You should end up with a folder containing the Map's folder (352nd CrossChannelMap) the installer it self and a readme. Follow the instructions in the readme.

You need a modded Il-2 install wink

The instructions are:
Manual Installation:

1. Extract
the files to a temporary folder.

2. Copy the contents of the "MODS_CCM_Insert" folder to your "
\\Mods" folder.

3. Edit the "all.ini" file to include the 352nd_CCM entry.

a. Check the location
"\\mods\mapmods\maps" folder for an "all.ini" file.
===================
Easy enough to download the folders
Easy enough to extract the files
as before no "MODS_CCM_Insert" folder

Uriah,

If you are trying to install the Cross Channel Map from 352nd_Cross_Channel_Map.exe and want to do a manual install, copy the .exe file to a temporary working folder.

Run the .exe, pointing it to your temporary working folder.

As the .exe runs you'll see that it creates a folder called "MODS_CCM_Insert" as it is working. A batch file script runs which creates two other folders, "Missions" and "MODS" and then deletes the MODS_CCM_Insert folder.

You then will have one file and two folders in your temporary working folder -- the .exe file, Missions and MODS folders.

Copy the MODS folder to your game, overwriting what is in your existing MODS folder if you have one.

Copy the Missions folder to your game, overwriting what is in your existing Missions folder.

There should be no harm in overwriting the content of the two Missions and MODS folders since the installer only ADDs content, it does not delete or change anything already there, unless you already have the CCM installed. If you are concerned about overwriting either the MODS or Missions folder, simply copy or move the contents of what is in each folder now in your temporary working folder to the appropriate path in your game -- the MODS and Missions folders are there to map the installation path.

Then follow the instructions on locating your all.ini file and add the CCM line as instructed.

Hope this helps.

Thank you 352_Persecutor.

I did as you directed as I did before.
The '352nd_Cross_Channel_Map.exe' did create in my temp folder 'IL2A'
the following folder tree
Missions
...Net
.....Coop
.......352_CMM_BoB_Missions (this folder has lots of files)
MODS
...mapmods
......Maps
........._Tex
............352nd_Cross_Channel (this has lots of *.tga files)
.........352nd_Cross_Channel (this too has lots of *.tga files but some others too.

I found the same structure in the game and put the folders where they belong. I have done this kind of thing before with mods for IL2 so it was not hard to discover what I should do. Just rather irritated that the instructions are incorrect.

The instructions from the down load are flat wrong. As you state

'As the .exe runs you'll see that it creates a folder called "MODS_CCM_Insert" as it is working. A batch file script runs which creates two other folders, "Missions" and "MODS" and then deletes the MODS_CCM_Insert folder.'

The fact that the 'MODS_CCM_Insert' folder gets deleted makes it impossible to move such a folder as the instructions tell one to do.

This was all done for my version/install of the Ultra Pack 2.01

Game runs fine. And thanks again 352_Persecutor.

This instruction is not helpful.
3. Edit the "all.ini" file to include the 352nd_CCM entry.

As a search in my Ultrapack 2.01 came up with 8 of them. I suspect the correct one is the one found in
C:\Il-2_409mUltra201\Files\maps

I suspect I am wrong.
For the only one that seems to fit by content is
C:\Il-2_409mUltra201\HSFX\maps

as it has things like this in it:
[all]
2B_FlightTest 2B_FlightTest/load.ini
Norway Norway/load.ini
NorwayW Norway/fly_Z_w_load.ini
Kiev Kiev/load.ini
Kiev_SAutumn Kiev/SAutumn_Kiev_load.ini
Kiev_WAutumn Kiev/WAutumn_Kiev_load.ini
Manchuria Manchuria/load.ini
KhalkhinGol KhalkhinGol/load.ini

But even then, I do not understand exactly what I am to add to this file.

If you read the instruction readme that comes with the installer, it tells exactly what needs to be added. Here's the line;

352nd_Cross_Channel 352nd_Cross_Channel/load.ini

Copy and paste that line into the all.ini so that it occupies it's own line. For example;

[all]
2B_FlightTest 2B_FlightTest/load.ini
Norway Norway/load.ini
NorwayW Norway/fly_Z_w_load.ini
Kiev Kiev/load.ini
Kiev_SAutumn Kiev/SAutumn_Kiev_load.ini
Kiev_WAutumn Kiev/WAutumn_Kiev_load.ini
Manchuria Manchuria/load.ini
KhalkhinGol KhalkhinGol/load.ini
352nd_Cross_Channel 352nd_Cross_Channel/load.ini

Good luck.

Howdy All,

First of all thanks to all involved in producing and delivering this beauty.

I'm a little stuck with a prob, maybe some of you can help.

Running the sim with the AAA Community Mod Version 1.1 (4.09b1m) and I've opted for the Cross Channel "auto installation". All seemed good and it went well. Pointing to the game directory and hitting install, I can do.
The map shows (and looks fantastic) in the FMB and I've been trying to fly a single Hurri out of Biggin Hill to do a bit of sightseeing but, for some reasons, I can't save the mission. I choose the right directory, hit "save", quit FMB and it still prompts me to save. Goes on forever... Eventually I choose "no" and of course no sightseeing in my Hurri :-(
This is specific to the Cross Channel map, all other maps work and save ok in FMB.

What did I miss?

Coop missions work fine tho. Great scenery and long flights, luvly.

Cheers,
Slug

I'm no longer familiar with UI 1.1, since AAA stopped supporting it long ago. However, I have found that with HSFX 4.11, if I have the ZUTI MDS mod enabled, I cannot save missions on certain maps. If you are using ZUTI with 1.1, try disabling it while using the FMB with this map.

No ZUTI in my Mods folder. I'll keep on looking.

This is a very big map and it uses a lot of memory to run. Have you looked for any of the "fixes" for this map such as smaller textures and fewer trees? They can be found at SAS or at the UP site.
Also reports are that this map actually runs smoother and faster with forest=3 in the config.ini rather than forest=2.
At the end of the day you may be better off doing a separate fresh install of the game and installing HSFX or UP. You will find it runs and loads much faster and smoother than UI 1.1. Of course you'll need to have enough hard drive space, but drives are not real expensive right now.

Slug,

Have you added the patched actors.static file? When the map was first released missions would not save; the cause was some missing objects in that file. The problem was quickly fixed with a patched file and the installer updated. If the installer you have included the early, faulty file you can obtain the patch here.

Missions created in the FMB should save with that updated file added. If your modded game uses ZUTI's Dogfight server mod you'll need to click on at least one tab of the MDS window in the FMB before saving the file. Between those two "fixes", hopefully your problem will be solved.

Hope this helps.

Persecutor,

Thanks for the file. Downloaded it and dropped it in, still no luck though.
No worries, my IL2 is misbehaving a little and needs a clean install. I just can't face it.

Coop missions work well so far. Great job!

Cheers,
Slug

Uriah, as I mentioned in my post in the forum, there seem to be two versions, the smaller CrossChannel_352nd.exe (29,396 kB) will yield only the two folders you got (as did mine), the larger one 352nd_Cross_Channel_Map.exe (66,784 kB) is the full install and works. I cannot remember where I got it though...

Bandy,

Assuming you are using HSFX, copy the contents of the MODS folder to your HSFX Mods folder and edit your all.ini file to include the 352nd_Cross_Channel map.

Assuming you are using the UP mod, copy the contents of the FILES folder to your files folder and edit your all.ini file.

That should do it. The MOD_CCM_Insert folder is a folder that is created by the installer during the install process and later deleted.

The easiest way is to simply re-run the installer and point it to your game's folder, and let the installer do the rest.

Hope this helps.

Good morning, and Happy Holidays to all.

A new "revision" or "update" to the CCM is now available; the current version is 1.4.1. A myriad of small issues have been addressed and corrected, some texture issues resolved, some airfields flattened and smoothed, and the like. No major changes; any mission or campaign built on the original version should work as designed. No new objects have been added to the map. Many of the issues caused by the simultaneous release of the map by both the 352nd VFG and the Ultra-Pak folks, who were a great help, have been resolved.

The new version may be downloaded from the 352nd Virtual Fighter Group site; link in my signature.

An "add-on" version will be released shortly which will include Bodney, for those who might want it.
