Is it possible to increase the LODs ranges for the Apache and the terrain? I installed the LB2 tweak zip-file that have all the altered ini-files. I see no difference in the game, but some of the INIs have some LOD settings that are changed.

I think the only way we're going to get a higher level of detail is to mod the ground objects and vehicles.

I think you misunderstood me. I would like to see the lowest LOD further away. The lowest LOD being the one with the highest detail level. I suspect it might be something in objview.ini but I'm not really sure what it is trying to explain regarding the LODs. [TerrainSystem] MaxPolys=9000 PerspectiveDepth=60000 [CacheInterface] [VFXOASystem] NumLODs=15 EndDepth00=80000 EndDepth01=100000 EndDepth02=120000 UseShadows=1 DefaultShadowWidth=64 DefaultShadowRecalcRate=1 [BitmapSystem]
[SkySystem] NumCols=8 NumRows=8 SkyColor=236 HazeColor=224 SkyFile=polarsky.raw Coarse=0 HazeWidthAboveHor=37000 HazeWidthBelowHor=90000
There can be as many LODx detail settings as you want, up to 16. The terrain detail level (0-15) will map linearly from LOD0 to the highest you go to. This is why, if you have fewer than 16 LODx sections, some of the terrain mesh detail levels will map to the same LODx section.
[LOD0] NumLODs=15 NumTransitionsLog2=5 MorphDepth00=75000 EndDepth00=100000 MorphDepth01=200000 EndDepth01=285364 MorphDepth02=400000 EndDepth02=470728 MorphDepth03=550000 EndDepth03=600000
[HField] Scale=8 edit: I've tried increasing the values in the LOD0 section. No difference at all.

Try modifying it like this and tell me what you get. I backed up my original file first in case of disaster, but it ran okay here. I', pressed for time so I didn't give it a thorough run-through, but I think it's a huge improvement (the terrain doesn't strobe into focus right in front of your chopper now).
[LOD0] NumLODs=8 NumTransitionsLog2=9 MorphDepth00=30000 EndDepth00=45000 MorphDepth01=50000 EndDepth01=60000 MorphDepth02=70000 EndDepth02=100000 MorphDepth03=150000 EndDepth03=200000 MorphDepth04=250000 EndDepth04=300000 MorphDepth05=350000 EndDepth05=400000 MorphDepth06=450000 EndDepth06=500000 MorphDepth07=550000 EndDepth07=600000
Give me some feedback, good or bad, amd I'll play with it some more when I get back home tonight.

Yes, I've run the game multuple times with the altered settings. I'm having a hard time seeing exactly what the improvement is, but I'm convinced it's positive. I don't see any problems from changing it as I did, but perhaps it's slowed the frame rate a bit. I'm working on the VFXOA settings now to see if that is what sets the mesh detail, as that's still a major graphics distraction. Let me continue with my "research" and make sure I'm not going to cause a crash for anyone, and when I'm done I'll do a clean install of LB2 on my other machine so I can do a side-by-side comparison. It's easy to convince myself it's better, so I'll need to make a standard. Give me a while more, I'm on it.

Somebody else with a good eye for detail try this and tell me what your opinion is. Rename your objview.ini file to objview.bak first, just in case, but this didn't give me any problems. Overwrite the following into the new copy of objview.ini (it isn't a copy of the entrie file, just the part I've hacked so far):
[CacheInterface] [VFXOASystem] NumLODs=15 EndDepth00=15000 EndDepth01=30000 EndDepth02=45000 EndDepth02=60000 EndDepth02=75000 EndDepth02=90000 EndDepth02=105000 EndDepth02=120000 UseShadows=1 DefaultShadowWidth=64 DefaultShadowRecalcRate=1 [BitmapSystem]
[SkySystem] NumCols=8 NumRows=8 SkyColor=236 HazeColor=224 SkyFile=polarsky.raw Coarse=0 HazeWidthAboveHor=37000 HazeWidthBelowHor=90000

[LOD0] NumLODs=8 NumTransitionsLog2=9 MorphDepth00=20000 EndDepth00=35000 MorphDepth01=40000 EndDepth01=55000 MorphDepth02=60000 EndDepth02=85000 MorphDepth03=100000 EndDepth03=180000 MorphDepth04=200000 EndDepth04=300000 MorphDepth05=350000 EndDepth05=400000 MorphDepth06=450000 EndDepth06=500000 MorphDepth07=550000 EndDepth07=600000
