Sure I will buy it.Hopefully the graphics will be great. I think it will be a great sim to have fun with. Consider that the flat out rate of speed will not be miuch higher than WWII era stall speeds. Flying could be a real challenge.

I'll buy the game even if it has 3 or 4 aircraft. Besides I don't think there were 100 different types of aircraft flying in WWI, was there?

Anyway, what will be the measure of this sim will be if theres a decent campaign to fly the aircraft in. If not, then I won't buy it.

Droops did a review and came up with about 500 different types (many of which were quite obscure). In WFP I already have 100 different types flying and this is only western front army aviation from August 1915 til war's end. Even in that environment and time frame I could easily add 50 more types. Go from the start of the war and I could add another 50. Add float planes and that could account for a bunch more (there were alot of different float planes used and they did frequently engage in combat). Then there are the eastern and Italian/Austrian fronts that could add yet another slew of planes.

Now it goes without saying that you don't need all of these types to create a valid sim. IMHO flying in 1914 and early 1915 in unarmed two seaters isn't all that exciting. However, I personally find the early months of air combat (Summer 1915) to be very interesting. I would miss not being able to start a career earlier than mid 1917 (which based on the plane set in the pics is what KOE is looking like).

Anyway, we'll see what we get. I agree that a solid campaign format is far more important in the first release than plane set. Planes can be added, altering the underlying structure of the game is much harder.

I will buy Knights Over Europe, even without 100 flyable plane types. Heck, 50 would be more than sufficient.

Pacific Fighters is coming out about the same time as KOE. If KOE let's modders fiddle with the Flight Models then I probably will stick with PF where people have to fly the same FM.

I really really hope that the FM/DM stays in house.

Let 3rd parties make the planes, as long as they meet KOE standards. Let them do aircraft paints.
Let them make campaigns. But don't let them do FM/DMs.

You know, Pen and you made some good points previously concerning flight modeling and keeping them "in-house", and if Aspect actively supports the importation of quality user-made aircraft, then it sounds like a good idea to keep FMs in the control of the sim's designers exclusively.

This would probably create better comparison matching of the FMs between aircraft types, and as you guys have already mentioned before.......help to prevent porked (cheat) FMs too.........might be a good way to go!

I wonder what Aspect really has in mind?

I've had FB for about 8 months, probably flown 30 different planes and only about 6-10 regularly. 100 different flyable aircraft is way down on my list. My KOE wishes are:

- great offline campaigns
- accurate feeling flight models
- good AI
- good multiplayer
- nice graphics (don't need to be bleeding edge)
- lots of other things
...
- enormous plane set

I really hope KOE does the business \:\)

ABSOLUTELY!!!

I want it to include support for multiple input devises (ie separate stick, throttle, and rudder devises..) A RB style single player campaing, MMP capabilities, and individual paint scheme support..

I will buy it. I have been playing WWI flight sims since the original Red Baron wire frame arcade game in the early 80's.

I played that. I got such a high score all the numbers turned to letters.
