I had this issue with big FPS drops/stutters in the opening moments of an attack on a formation years ago in CFS3. I traced that issue to something with the sounds. IIRC it was due to the file size of the gun firing sounds. I'm away from my PC right now, so I can't check.

That’s really awesome. Rod seems like the kind of guy that you’d like to have a beer with. he regularly hangs out with locals in public bars in Glasgow when he comes to watch his beloved Celtic play.

That's pretty good, meshwise.
The next thing DCS needs to address after they finish the Dynamic Campaign and Global world is the granularity of the ground.
Should be entirely possible to do with procedural generation, as both Star Citizen and Outerra have excellent procedurally generated terrain, close up, using tessellation. Small rocks, pebbles and other things we take for granted in reality are present.
Edit: I'm not sure why Falcon BMS 4.38 isn't trying to integrate Outerra into their engine. Outerra blows away pretty much any simulator around, including MSFS for terrain detail. The only weakness is trees.

True, but it's been awhile since I've played the 2020 or any general aviation sim and figured I could use some practice, plus I can use them to tweak my controls.

Not a fantastic race, but more eventful that expected, and you got your sauber points !
Gasly did great too, defending sainz for ages. Lewis sounded washed.

Swapped to the Dnipro for a while, and gave it some more upgrades and yeah, this rifle is excellent. Fires fast, very controllable. The 2x scope doesn't work well at long range of course, but it's a nice sight picture for the short to medium range where most combat takes place in this game. Fires 5.45 which is plentiful. Found a suppressor for it and it now has a laser. Opted for the weight reduction and it drops to a manageable 3.2 kg. Despite being chambered for the same round as the AKM, it does a little more damage, but is far better penetration while having better range and accuracy. I like it, very effective rifle.
Not quite fully upgraded. Carry capacity is extended by the Sewn On Pockets mod for the Seva, which boosts it 10% and a goldfish artifact which adds another 3kg.

Wanted to do another comp, and picked the BMW 320 Turbo at Assen Grand Prix, but before I did so I wanted to see if I could be competitive and the answer is a resounding no. I was like six seconds off the pace so I didn't join that one.
Noticed Frank had come close to my Zandvoort lap, so I fired that up and gave it another go. Managed to find a half second for a 29.9. This is a great combination. The Formula 3 feels light and is a little underpowered so you can really hang it out there and it's hard to drop. A little stabby on the brakes but not too bad. The track of course is top notch so it's a great hotlap combination. The low morning sun gives it a nice atmosphere. That was fun.

Re: Small world sometimes, RIP Alicia (John Schneider's wife)

Same here Panzer. I've enjoyed listening to some of his food for thought videos. I discovered his country and western singing some years ago when my folks found some cassettes of his at Goodwill. I also found it interesting that he was friends with and even lived with John and June Cash for a time. I often listen to Johnny's audio recording of the New Testament at night and once while I was listening to one of John Schneider's video, he mentioned that he happened to be staying with them at the time Johnny was doing those recordings. There's also a nice tribute for Marty Robbins that was done not long after his death and John Schneider was the host who sat down with Marty's wife Marizona and his two children. John Schneider seems to have done it all in his business while staying a humble, decent man bumps and bruises and all.
