Female Fighter Pilots ready for viewing - 03/25/04 05:35 PM

OK, as promised here they are. Photos are courtesy of several members from the flyingclothing group at Yahoo Groups and also members from http://www.flightgear.dk :-

http://img40.photobucket.com/albums/v123/choe_cy/Female%20Fighter%20Pilots/killer_ladies_02.jpg

killer_ladies_01 and killer_ladies_02 show three USAF pilots wearing standard flightgear with desert tan flightsuits of the USAF. I forgot their names, but I can find out later. Not sure if they are F-16 or F-15 pilots. Probably both.

This one is a picture of Flight Lt. Emilia of the Royal Malaysian Air Force. She is a qualified weapons instructor flying the BAe Hawk with 15th Sqdr.

A-10 driver 'KC', short for Killer Chick. She flew in the Iraq War and successfully brought her A-10 home after taking damage from AA fire. KC was featured in several news reports during the recent war.

Two views of the battle damage on KC's A-10.

http://img40.photobucket.com/albums/v123..._1999-08-12.jpg

Tornado pilot Claire Sweeney of the RAF. A fellow flightgear collector of mine who is also an aircrew life support specialist with the RAF participated in a military exercise in Poland, in which Claire was also involved. Judging by his description of the reception that Claire received in Poland and Germany it is no wonder they consider her (in his words) "the current sweetheart of the British Forces."

http://img40.photobucket.com/albums/v123/choe_cy/Female%20Fighter%20Pilots/japanesepilot.jpg

err....not sure about this one. Could be the Real McCoy, but also could be just a model advertising flightgear on behalf of the Air Forces of the Japanese Self Defence Force. I have seen the Chinese Air Force employ a model on such similar adverts.

Unidentified Hornet pilot.

Claire Sweeney a Tornado pilot???

She's an actress who used to be in Brookside on UK TV and now presents a whole load of really poor programs. I don't she even knows what a Tornado is as far as I'm aware...

LMAO.

I was waiting for that one! Wonder how many will fall for that. Not the Brits apparently ;\)

Yes, she is starring in some TV show call Brookeside or something like that.

The other pilots are bona fide, I guarantee you...except for the Japanese pilot...that one I am not sure

The guy and gal in the pic are Chuck Yeager and Jaqulene Cochran. She was a full-bird Col. in the Women's Air Corps. She was also a winner of the Collier trophy. A most pioneering aviatrix since Amelia Earhart. During WW2, she worked closely with Hap Arnold to get women into the WAC to free up the men in order to fight the war.

Re: Female Fighter Pilots ready for viewing - 03/25/04 09:57 PM

I'm a little skeptical about the pics of the women with long hair... If I was their C/O I'd be telling them to cut it before it flops around their helmet.

Also, you've got 2 pics of "Claire Sweeney"... so which one is the real one? the TV presenter? or the one in front of the 100Sqn BAe Hawk?

Also, juat out of interest, what shot at KC's aircraft? and what was she doing at the time? it seems there is not a lot of bullet dispersion, so she must have been going pretty slow...

Unfortunately H-T-R your second pic of Claire Sweeney isn't her, it is in fact a real RAF pilot,a QWI, very intelligent and flies single seat.(that photo may have been re-touched..) ;\)

Fastfreddy's pic is how I picture Sacha Andreeva to look in my Sacha series, I think.

Hmm.

Re: Female Fighter Pilots ready for viewing - 03/26/04 04:18 AM

Well, why not have both...a Sacha and a Leshka within the series ? ('Leshka' is Russian short version for 'Alexei'...I only found that out recently)...They fly together...went through hell in some tough missions...love begins to blossom...*a song cuts in..."On the Wings of Love...yadda yadda yadda...."......it'll be like Tom Clancy meets Mills&Boon :p

Seriously though...time to answer the questions you guys asked..

Yes, true. That is not Claire Sweeeney. As I said, these pics were provided by members of the flyinggear forum at Yahoo Groups. Somehow that Hawk pilot pic snuck in amongst the riot and laughter we were having over the Claire Sweeney photo and got itself represented as another 'Claire Sweeney'. Errors are therefore mine \:\) That particular photo is Crown Corporation copyright BTW \:\) Does that answer your question No-457 Squog? As for Squog's question on the long hair being worn by some of the women pilots, this is allowed as long as it is of manageable length. I have seen longer hair length on a read F-16 female pilot.

Marc-David,

Those photos from Google are excellent...about your second photo with those three lovely Asian ladies, it is possible that these are pilots of the Taiwanese Air Force. The uniforms looks similar, and so does the squadron patches. Since I'm no expert on Taiwan, I will defer to the members of the flyinclothing forum to verify and get back to you.

The third photo you posted shows three members of Jacqueline Conchran's WAC

Probably AAA. I'm no expert. What was she doing at the time? I think maybe she was trying to deliver a package....and it's not on behalf of FedEx. Was she going slow ? No idea. I'm no expert. But with Hog's primary mission of going low and much slower than the fast movers, such things as getting hit is a very high possibility. Have to admit, KC is indeed attractive.

The million dollar question...Why do men love a woman in uniform ?

Okay, thank you to the rest of you who posted links to the Night Witches and Lilya Litvak. Very good!

Re: Female Fighter Pilots ready for viewing - 03/26/04 10:57 AM

Claire Bloody Sweeney ! "The Forces Sweetheart" The original sweetheart was Vera Lynne (sic?) in WWII because she went round and entertained the troops and was very popular and a bit of a sweetheart, Claire Sweeney is a second rate Tv actress who was nominated as the Forces sweetheart which was news to us actually IN the forces. I think that Picture of her in flying gear must of been retouched as in reality "lovely Claire" has a rather large rear axle ! and she ain t no sweetheart of mine ! (grumbles off muttering why not Anna Friel ??)

No matter who it is, you have to admire an aviator that takes a hit like that and gets back in the cockpit for next mission.

LoL! You reckon that they've taken a shot of a male pilot in front of the tornado, and put Claire's head on it?

LoL! If it is true - I always knew RAF fighter jocks wore nail polish LoL!

That A-10 damage is due to shrapnel, not bullets. She was most likely hit by a Surface to Air missile.

She did extremely well at bringing the jet home with no hydraulics.

Hi HarryR.

I'm a Harry too :p Did you know there's another new member at SimHq (joined several days ago) called HarryK ?

Long hair...gets caught in the zippers ? Only if you get it in front of the flightsuit when you zip up ;\)

Anywhere, its a lovely thing when flying, if they open a cockpit just a tad and let some wind in....and let their hair blow back.

Why do you think they created coupe sportscar? ;\)

Doesn't the A-10 have a back up cable flight control system or something simlar to that?

Yes. All flight controls have a backup "fly-by-steel-wire" system that allows you to bring the jet home with complete hydraulic failure.

sorry might be a bit out dated but please.... yeah there are some female pilots and yes some may look good in a zipper suite, but damn, man some of those would make a recuiting poster look good. I've been in the A.F. for a while and maybe "and i quote maybe" seen a few pilots fill out a flight suit like the display there, and not being sexist, that includes men \:\) \:\) :p :p \:D

Had some stuff with the KC pilot from Pope AFB in Iraq. The plane was hit with anti acft not a SAM. At least that is what intel came up with. I met her at a FOL in Iraq before she became world famous for her landing....saw her come in perfectly like it was a 500lb glider. Here are some pics...

S!

Wasnt it KC who was doing the A10 attacks against the hotel/office building in Baghdad that was broadcast live on CNN?

Incredable firepower that A10. Who ever it was - they were making a real mess of the building let alone anybody who was inside.

Canadian Female Aviators:

There are a lot of female pilots in the CAF. Trust me on that one.

Major Deanna Brasseur

Kareen Mamo ( First female to graduate the NATO military jet program )

Captain Maryse Carmichael ( First and only female Snowbird )
