Hi Marco,
1. yes but don't make them new ones or you will have to add them to the rendering sequence, and that is a nightmare for the most hardened 3dz'ers. Add them as 'sub-elements' on the end of an existing element that shows up at the same time as the one you are adding... example :
E01 5 3 26 121 133 27 211 231 28 112 211 0 118 255
OK this describes a type 5 element, 3 points... no's 26,27,28.... element terminator 0 118, line terminator 255
to add a sub element... just place it between the element terminator and the line terminator...like this :
E01 5 3 26 121 133 27 211 231 28 112 211 0 118 5 3 29 211 231 30 11 231 31 102 201 0 118 255
this has added a second type 5, 3 point sub element, with points 29,30,31 to the original element. It has the same normals and rendering sequence as the original and will be drawn whenever the original is... you can add this to several elements to get it to appear at the correct times if there is no single existing element that appears at all the times you want your new one to....
In the studio this will now appear as E01/0 and E01/1 being 'element 1' and 'element 1 sub-element1'
2. No....
3. No....
not strictly true, but its a bigger process than you want to get into, involving renumbering all the points, and elements and the point references in the new elements.... forget it....
cheers,
Pobs
