Hi guys,
I know you have been getting inundated with people asking questions but I thought i would give it a shot as well.
I have a PIII600, 128MB RAM, GeForce 256, Win XP Home machine and am having serious problems getting IL-2 to run.
Before I go too much further, this morning I increased my RAM to 512MB and upgraded to a 64MB GeForce 2 MX400 in the hope it would cure my probs ... it hasn't.
My problem is that IL-2 loads but hangs at the menu screen (mouse cursor is on the screen but has no movement) The only way to get out is ctrl-alt-del to task manger to kill the game.
I think my problem is my sound set up. I use a Yamaha YST-MS55D USB speaker system which runs on its own drivers. Other than that there is only a Vibra 128. I think my prob is in the IL-2 setup utility ... which sound setting should I be using?
I have had it working a couple of times (though for what reason I'm not sure) and the demo used to play OK.
I'm using the Nvidia 21.83 drivers, have shut down as many background apps as possible and have tried both DirectX and Open GL -- I think it's possessed
As you can imagine I'm getting in trouble from my wife for my loud swearing at the computer. My kids are now walking around going @@$@(&%)*%**$Puter I'll kick your @%4@%%#^%%# Case from here to Christmas if you don't start @%*&#@%%^ working

I have the same v.c. as you all though mine is 32mb I would go to the Nvidia 2.3.11 driver's the ones you have are causing all kinds of problems.
make sure Hardware acceleration is Enabled to full(note: for some sytems)
Resolution 1024x768x16
BIOS up to date
Also make sure that in your BIOS your system is seeing all 512mb ram
Note every one's system is different But this is basically the way mine runs and it is really smooth no hesitation even on TAKE OFF's
one last thing:
In sound setup(IL-2) turn off: Take off tracks
turn off in flight tracks
SOUND setup.exe EXTENSIONS un check all three boxes the one with Volumetric sound
your system should work nicely
LET US know Phil
