I have installed and did everthing right, but every time I go to double click on the IL-2.exe file to run game nothing happens, the sand timer comes up for about 3 seconds then disappears. Can someone please help me

You got a 16mb system but running IL-2 at 32mb. Ib setup only select 16mb. Had the same thing.

Did you click on the il2setup icon? If not, make sure all the hardware settings are compatible with your system before trying to run the demo.

Nah, you got the same problem as me- all the files are read-only, you have to uncheck all the .ini files in the Il-2 root dir as well as the User directory.

I did Ajax, and still no go I think it might be my Video card and the drivers need to be updated.

As they say in russian "Moya tvoya ne ponimay" translated roughly in english as "Huh??"

Make sure you unzip with folder structure intact. In the il2 directory you are supposed to have ten sub-folders.

You have to use the "extract" command in WinZip or your folder won't be structured properly. If you use the drag and drop extract method you'll be out of luck.
Took me a while to figure that out.

I also assume you are running DX8..I think it needs that!
Demo ran first time for me and no crashes of any sort..well at least game crashes..I've crashed my plane several times

there are also a couple of flakey files out there.
the first one I downloaded failed to unzip a couple of corrupted files, so watch out for that in your log when you extract.
tried it on both 1GHz Athlon with TNT2 and Celeron850 with GF2MX with exactly the same result
I'll wait for the official one. 100MB+ is something you can only do so often on 56K...

What file structure???????
My zip has 128 separate files. No folders att all.

I can't get it to run after reading the boards for an hour.

I have dx8a , and all the files are un-checked for read only.

Any ideas?

WinZIP-archives do not have internal folders, but they might store the info of the folder-structure the files had before they were zipped. It will be created when you unzip the files, but you have to check the box on the lower left of the WinZIP-window that appears when you want to unzip the files.
There are actually 10 subfolders in my install. UbiSoft, would it have been so difficult to make an installation-routine?

Without the folder-structure, the exe of Il-2 searches for files in subfolders, but does obviously not find them.
