Hi community,

Tonight, I decided to fly a MiG-21 for a change, and do a random intercept mission with the -21MF, but, the sim threw some interesting things into the mix......

Found myself, and my squadron approaching a squadron of F-4D's. "Ah, easy, thought, I'll take this fight into the vertical". Dropped my tanks, and proceeded to despatch the Phantoms with my Atolls.

BUT.....the F-4's were NOT the primary target.....the Primarys were a squadron of AH-1's! And man, did I lose or what!

By this time, I was down to guns only, and having to carry out slashing attacks, but no, these Cobras litterally ran circles around me and my flight. I ended up failing the mission!

Which prompts me to ask; has anybody figured out what dictates random mission parameters, such as AI aircraft type?

Cheers,

Andy.

Random mission generator uses all aircraft types you have. If there is need of bombers it choose any plane which has strike mission type in data.ini if it needs interceptors it choose any plane which has intercept mission type allowed and so on

That is cool...reminds me of the time I was CAS and had a "bogies at 1100, 4 miles" call...and I thought this is not a good time to have a Skyraider...then I checked and the bogies were Il-28s...yep, doing their own attack on the friendlies...first time I have seen that.

Though too rare, this sim does have sweet moments like that.

Cheers

You need to make the MiG's flyable, or, if you mean something like a Top Gun style excersize (A-4 Super Echos againts F-4Es), you'll need to create your own mission and specify which flight (or aircraft) is the enemy.

Try searching on 'flyable migs' to bring up applicable threads. You'll have to:

You may have to extract the .ini files, search on cat extractor to find threads that apply.

Add any appropriate cockpit entry. Start here:
