Michael,

Sorry I don't have an answer, but this is EXACTLY what I'm looking for as well. The terrain is fantastic!

Andy.

Wehner,

AFAIK, there's no one-stop-shopping file. I few months ago, I added a few lines to David's tutorial. Here it is:

"For advanced users, I suggest you unzip the mideastwar.zip file in your unzipped folders. That way you may edit what you need.

1.Copy the YomKippur1 folder and the 5 Yomkippur TXT files in your Campaign folder;

2.Ignore the Flight folder including Nations.ini (not needed);

3.Copy the Mideast folder in your Terrain folder;

4.Take desert.cat file from your Desert terrain file and copy it. Then rename it Mideast. Drop that in the Mideast terrain folder;

5.Copy the 9 Centurion files into your Objects folder

6.Add the following lines to your GROUNDOBJECTDATA.INI file. You may have to extract it first.

[ObjectXXX]
ObjectName=Centurion
ObjectFullName=Centurion
ObjectDataFile=Centurion_data.ini

7.Copy the 4 texture subfolders into your A-4E folder, and add the following lines to your a-4e.ini file:

[TextureSetXXX]
Directory=FlyingD
Name=The Flying Dragon Squadron
Nation=Israel
Squadron=FlyingDragon
Specular=0.50
Glossiness=0.75
Reflection=0.00

[TextureSetXXX]
Directory=GD

Nation=Israel
Squadron=GoringDeer

[TextureSetXXX]

Reflection=0.00

[TextureSetXXX]
Directory=KN
Name=Knights of the North
Nation=Israel
Squadron=Knights
Specular=0.50
Glossiness=0.05

8.Copy the 4 texture subfolders into your F-4E folder, and add the following lines to your F-4e.ini file:
[TextureSetXXX]
Directory=IAF2
Name=The Bats
Nation=Israel
Squadron=Bats
Specular=0.30
Glossiness=0.85
Reflection=0.00

[TextureSetXXX]

Reflection=0.00

[TextureSetXXX]
Directory=TW
Name=OT&E
Nation=USAF
Squadron=
Specular=0.30

9.Copy the IAM texture subfolder into your F-100d folder and add the following lines to your F-100d.ini file:
[TextureSetXXX]
Directory=IAM
Name=The Scorpion Squadron
Squadron=Scorpions
Nation=Israel
Specular=0.30

10.Copy the 2 texture subfolders into your MIG-17F folder and add the following lines to your MIG-17F.ini file:

That’s it, now go get your daily dose of SAMs!"

I understand Dave is about to update his campaign including Mirage III and Gepard's terrain. Any update on that?

rereading this, I am not sure if we talk about the same thing: So far, I downloaded the israel13 terrain from Avsim , but you mention a file called mideastwar. Can you point me there ?

You'll get it at AVSIM. The MidEast campaign is a revised version (03/07) of the Yom Kippur campaign. Again, Dave is supposed to update it soon. Hope this helps.

To clear up some confusion:

Israel 1.3 is a terrain by Gepard and is the only really complete mideast terrain so far available (the only thing it is really missing are roads). It is the one that most people use and refer to, but sadly, so far, there is no campaign developed for it, so all you can use it for is to fly random and scripted missions (though there are some pretty good ones among the latter).

The Yom Kippur campaign was created early on by USAFMTL, our in-house campaign wizard. Because there was no dedicated terrain for the Middle East available at the time, he created one from scratch, but of course he didn't have the time on his hands to make it overly detailed. That said, it does use accurate satellite data and has a larger scope than Gepard's Israel terrain (it includes Cyprus and southern Turkey). This is the terrain called "Mid East", if I remember correctly.

Actually you do need the nations.ini file. I changed some countries alignment in it.
