Greetings all.

I’ve recently installed three extra ’planes – the Mirage package, the excellent SAAB Draken and the brilliant Vampire.

The installations have gone very well but all three of them have slight graphical quirks that may or may not be because of my rather old graphics card; a Voodoo 5500. In any case, I thought I’d mention them here in case anybody can think of a fix.

First the Mirage package. Nearly perfect, but the cockpit glass (Perspex) has a very slight, translucent criss-cross pattern in the glass. Strangely enough this is only on the front panel and only visible from the inside.

The Draken is also nearly perfect but, when inside, if I look over my left or right shoulder there is a gap between the front delta of the wing and the body so that I can see the ground.

Lastly the Vampire. Again the problem is when I’m inside and look over my left or right shoulder. In this case I see a big black triangle blocking off the left and right lower quarters respectively.

If anybody can tell me how to post shots in this forum I’ll try and post a couple showing what I mean.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Tom

Thats because the Fuselage Is Hidden For the Draken ANd the Vampire,
Not Sure What It Will Cuase,
But Open the DATA.INI for those Planes and Under Fuselage Change it to Say this
FROM:
ShowFromCockpit=False
TO:
ShowFromCockpit=True

Are you using 16-bit color? If so, switch to 32-bit, since 16-bit caused similar problems with stock cockpit reflections. If you are already using 32-bit color, I think you are going to have to live with it \:\(

I still have a couple of operational Voodoo 5500 pci cards. They aren't installed right now because I was never happy with how they performed with WinXP and I haven't bothered to make dual-boot PCs with Win98SE yet. I really liked the way SFP1 looked on the Voodoo and actually got comparable frame rates to my Radeon 8500. But I could run the Radeon at 1600x1200x32 with FSAAx2 (Performance) and AFx16. Now with the 9800 Pro, I run at 1600x1200x32 with FSAAx4 (Quality) and AFx16. The 9800 Pro definitely looks the best, but my cpu and motherboard/memory with 133MHz bus are holding back my frame rates \:\(

Thanks for your help guys.

Digital. I tried your tip with the DATA.ini files. The Draken was already 'ShowFromCockpit=True' so no joy there. The Vampire I changed from FALSE to TRUE but it made no difference. The black triangle is still there. The strange thing is it now looks as if it was put there on purpose, although I can’t for the life of me make out what it’s supposed to represent.

Streakeagle. I tried changing from 16 to 32-bit and the Mirage criss-cross pattern disappeared so it seems you were right about that. The Draken and Vampire remained the same however. Unfortunately running 32-bit is not an option as it is too slow on the Voodoo, so I'll just have to live with it as you say.

Any more ideas about the Draken and Vampire? It's really a shame that these great 'planes have these small glitches.

Cheers

Well, I found out what the big black triangle in the Vampire cockpit is. It's because the A4 Skyhawk cockpit is used!!!! Doh! It’s only recently I tried the A4 so I didn't notice. Sorry.

Anyway, my question still stands. Is it possible to do anything about the triangle? Perhaps it could be made transparent? The same problem exists in the F9 Panther as well (a brilliant piece of kit by the way!)

It's really a shame because the Vampire has got to be my favourite 'plane, and the triangle blocks off the left and right rear quarters quite a bit.

Cheers
