Electronic Arts is to buy 20 percent of French publisher Ubisoft, the Wall Street Journal has confirmed this morning, at a reported cost of between $85 million and $100 million.
Not too long now and we'll have some mergement of fat, greedy big companys puplishing only those games which make a quick buck and can be ported to the X-Box.
Ported? What makes us think they'll have anything for PC players at all? They just gonna make it for Xbox and Playstation3, nobody else is worth marketing to...in their eyes.
I dont like to be doomsday prophet, but with UBI announcing "that they are not longer making geek games", the nerfing of Ghost Recon 2, nerfing of the next Rainbow Six Game...
And we all know what EA does - what was the last decent sim EA puplished?
I think there could well be competition (anti-trust, as you americans would call it )issues here. let's wait and see what the regulators say. If this was an EU based deal, there's no way the EU would allow it. It may yet fail.
