So, as many of you have seen in my other thread, I haven't been able to get EECH to run on my new laptop. I'm looking for an alternative, and I've seen a few different games out there (although I'm sure non of them will be as in-depth as EECH... \:\( )

I've looked at Gunship, Apache Air Assult... what do you all think of these games? If not these, what would you suggest? I played the Gunship demo, and it was alright...

Thanks!

If I had to chose between those two ... Gunship. Air Assault is more run/gun in the sky. Lots of MODs for Gunship too.

After gunship is modded out, where does it stand with EECH?

There are no worthwhile alternatives really. EECH or LB2 are still the best choice in my opinion. If you think its your Laptops GFX card that stops you playing EECH, then perhaps you should try EECH2, other than that wait for DCS:BlackShark.

BTW did you try turning on the 32 bit option in the eech.ini on your laptop. I recently had an issue getting EECH to run with a new core duo with integrated graphics. In the end i just turned on 32bit in the ini and it ran fine. I figured the new GFX choked on the default 16bit option.

Good Luck \:\)

ps- Armed Assaults XAM helo's are fun to fly low through the terrain, but theres no cockpit systems making it an arcade shooter in my view. The background radio comms traffic is excellent though.

I feel your pain, EECH rocks \:D

32 bit or 16 bit makes no difference, but thanks. Were your issues anything like the first pic in this thread... http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2477115#Post2477115

Maybe I'll look into EE2, although I really wanted to fly the Apache. Does EE2 support Track IR? I still can run the game on my old laptop, but it's just a pain to drag it out when I want to play.

Also, is there a demo for EE2 anywhere? It would be nice to confirm it works before I buy it...

Thanks!

Did you acully tried to run the game from fresh install, without any adds?
Just install EEAH+patch and EECH, NO UPDATES or TEXTURES. I know many people had problems with many different textures.
You can also try and reinstall oldest Video Drivers you can find.
It also could be DirectX problem.

Here. Check out this thread to see what I did: http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2477115#Post2477115 If you have more suggestions, post 'em there. I'd rather keep this thread focused on what alternatives to EECH are out there and how they compare.

Thanks!
