Theres also the issue of setting the AA and MM either inside the game (application)
or forcing it on via the ForceWare or ATI Catylist 3D software control.

For me...

Ive found the best performance and quality when I force the AAliasing and MMaping with the
Forceware/Catylist 3D GUI, and leaving the AA/MM buttons off in the application (FalconAF Graphics).

The reverse can also be done, where you set AA/MM in FalconAFs graphics GUI, and then set the
3D AA/MM features to APPLICATION CONTROLLED within the driver's GUI (Forceware/Catylist).

But, there are finer controls in the 3D driver's GUI for how much (x2-x16) instead of just on/off.
There may be issues with trying to control AA/MM in a mixed mode in both the application and drivers
GUI. Like which 3D filtering GUI wins?

The Transform & Lighting hardware abstraction layer (Direct3D T&L HAL rendered in software or
hardware) do have a significant FPS hit for single core uPs. I have not played with it since going
to multi-core uPs rigs. There seems to be enough horse power that I can run with these on and
still get >60FPS in most places. Using T&L HAL results in improved lighting and sound effects,
but at a cost to some rigs.
