Gibbo,

What are you looking for with a new terrain? Do you want
a more accurate( given the era) looking terrain at 5000'
or a more detailed (landscape) one at 500'?

If the latter, I'll be more than willing to assist with
some tile work to achieve this, as I think the former has
already been accomplished by Saggin B with his terrain sets.

Hi FT,

I understand that the col is trying to get a more 'varied' terrain, so that we can place features which distinguish the lanscapes of the different regions and make the effect less homogeneous. In the new exe we have room for 255 tmod types and possibly more terrain tiles, which gives us the potential to create more varied terains. The problem we have with the more detailed low level terrain is ..... we dont have one !!!, we only have two 'LOD's' ( levels of detail) which cover 'long range' and 'directly below us', but still from a fixed height perspective. With most terrains nowadays using the same tiles for both we could adapt the exe to use the close range tile as a 'low altitude' tile instead, but we still only have the 256 x 256 pixel image to skin it so we cant get too much more detail on it unless we ould adapt the exe to allow several skin files or perhaps subdivision of the tile into 'elements' like a model ... still it might be worth considering, and would perhaps let us have a higher altitude terrain for the new bomber heights too ....

cheers,

Pobs

Hi Ade.

If your considering doing some tiles, I'd make your original artwork in 512x512, in case we fix the problem with tile sizes, and anyway, it's easier to paint a tile in 512x512, and resize it to 256x256.

I'm thinking about doing an England tile set. ;\)

Pobs,

Can you still complete the 'No Man's land' terrain tiles for
my Western Front scenario based on SagginB's Summer set and
the pcx art I've sent you?

OK Gibbo.
