The cockpit's coming on too \:\)

In addition, there's a new High Res terrain in late development. Makes a big difference being able to sight-see from an open cockpit. Lovely.

Excellent work from our modeller, Geoff, here.

Awesome!! Not "my kind" of aircraft but I'm eagerly waiting to be able to fly it.

Yep, she's quite a trip \:\)

The cockpit is being textured so no pics of that yet. This is the external model. She's another animal altogether. In a dive she manages 125 mph! Thanks to Blue Six for the FM there.

Geoff built some great details in. Note the fuel line connecting the fuel tank on the top wing to the fuselage, for example. Things were simple in these trainers, which explains their enduring popularity even today.

So, how would you feel, strapped into one of these?
Personally, I'd feel bloody nervous.

Well as you point out it can fly at a walking pace in a stiff wind ... I can't think of a nicer plane to go sightseeing on a warm sunny day \:\)

I love low, slow, flying.
I've got lots of Cub time, and you don't get much simpler than that. The gas gauge was a wire with a cork at the end that stuck into the fuel tank, in front of you. You just kept your eye on how far the wire was sinking down to watch your fuel level!
This is going to be a fun plane to use while exploring the BoB world. Providing no '109s are about, of course!

We are having some problems in the campaign with the adding of the Tiger Moth so as always more work to do. We will keep you updated on our progress with the Tiger Moth and 2.08.

We did indeed ran into this non expected issue. However, doing such a big job, especially if a lot of things are new (first completely new aircraft, first non 3D Studio model, first new shadow model etc)
it is expected that some unexpected issues arise ;). Several people including Buddye are looking into the issue.

Apart from that, here is the progress since the last sitrep:

Historic research: We now have a big heap of resources, including the cockpit. We have a guy with "photo access" to a Tiger Moth, so that helps to get hires photos from small but important areas, like say the wheel hubs or cockpit details. Work by Trumper, Stickman, PV and me.

3D: Basically 3D "bugs" are fixed as fast as they are found. Also, especially the cckpit, is becoming more detailled. Actually I would say the cockpit is already in a better state than I planned for a release. Geoff is the man. He started animation of the cockpit but ran into trouble and I did not have more than 30 or 60 minutes until now to look at it. After some back and force we managed to use a new prop texture for the TM, which is important as of course it has to be 2 blade while the Spits is 3 blade.
We had not expected this job to pose any problems, but oh well, main thing is it works now.

2D: Quite a bit of work went into the cockpit textures. Some progress on external AFAIK. External work by Bader, cockpit work, historic resources etc by Stickman.

FM: Ken and Buddye are working on this one.
