Today, after a long period of developing this baby, in cooperation with Qawa67, the new widescreen F-15E Strike Eagle cockpit v3.0 for Red Viper is released.

This is a separate product from the former F-15E cockpit v2.4, which is 2D only and for other Falcon 4.0 versions.

Splash screen:

This cockpit is made for 1600x1200 resolution (4:3) and autoscales down to lower resolutions.
The 3D cockpit can also be used in widescreen resolutions like 16:9/16:10 but the 2D cockpit will have black bars on the sides.

3D cockpit:

3D cockpit detail:

2D Backseat:

For a full features list see here:

Features 2D cockpit:

- There is a FCP and RCP (front cockpit and rear cockpit), switching is done via Shift-2 or Shift-1 and panning up/down.
- Flying in the backseat only can be fun if Autopilot is set to combat mode.

A/A grid
- The RCP has an A/A attack grid in the left MPD, click on the left MPD screen to activate

Kneeboards
- Kneeboards, the right knee has the excellent checklists by Red Dog. The left knee in the RCP has the Pusan airbase landing and departure charts, also by Red Dog. Browsing is done by left and rightclicking them.

Moving map
- The FCP has a moving map in the center MPCD, it can be enabled by pushing the TSD (Tactical Situation Display) button

ADI/RWR/HSI
-The left MPCD in the RCP has a digital ADI and a RWR function, the right MPCD a HSI function

Aeeyes,

Beautiful pit! I bought one of your firsr pits for Falcon4.0 and loved it. One question though, can this pit be used with F4AF? I no longer own Falcon4.0 but do have F4AF, which I know is the same engine but don't want to buy this unless it works for F4AF.

Thanks for the great work!

Matt

Hi Matt,

F4:AF allows F-16 cockpits only, so I am sorry but it won't work on AF. This is for RV only.

If you fly in the backseat with the combat autopilot enabled, does it let you 'play' as a WSO(Weapons Systems Officer)? I've always wanted to try that.:)

Hey Gargantou,

Falcon 4.0 Autopilot can be pretty advanced, but be aware that for air-to-air you'll have to take control (even for evading missiles). My experience is that the AP is pretty bad at this.

But yes, you could (in theory) just handle takeoff and landing yourself and fly "backseat" for the rest of the mission.

Hmm, yeah, the combat pilot in Falcon 4 AF(I'm aware it ain't the same 'game') :)) is actually decent at air-to-air, but sucks at evading missiles, the biggest issue seems to be that both AI and the combat AP release chaff/flares with way to large time spaces between the release of them, which means that they're pretty useless when the combat AP tries to use'em.

I so wish someone would make a F-14 sim where I could play co-op with one player as RIO and one as pilot..

In fact you can do the whole trip up to any action, be it evading missiles or bombing/BVR from the backseat. Including taxiing and take off, flying landing taxiing. Just sit back and relax
That is in combat AP mode, and you can easily swap to the front seat or try to fly it from the back if your SA is good enough. Note that this is all in the 2D cockpit, the 3D cockpit is fronseat only.

I usually prefer the 2D cockpits anyway, its a bit of an nostalgic feel to them!

Thanks for the replies Aeyes, I think it's time for me to dust off my Falcon 4 CD and install Red Viper again.;)

SOLD!

This pit inspired me to dust off my Falcon 4 CD, figure out what all the hubbub was about this Red Viper mod, and get back on the horse.

You have my sale.

Nice to be back in the Falcon game.

Toonces

I put a thread up on the wargamer, and one of the guys online there just got it too. It really is amazing work.

The more I play with this cockpit, the more I realize just how much I still love this game. Flying the F-15E has really changed the game experience more than I would have thought.

For Aeyes, I've been over on your site and I'm having real trouble figuring out which cockpits you have, both payware and freeware, work with Red Viper. Could you post a reply letting me know which of your pits are compatible with the RV mod?

I'm definately in the market for some more.

Thanks,
Toonces

Ah, disregard.

I found on your sales page that it lists which cockpits work with which version of Falcon.

Now the only hard part is deciding which one(s) to get!

Hi Bob,

The 3d pit is independent of resolution, so you should be seeing it. Which version of the Eagle did you try flying?

Hey Bob,
I'm definately no guru, but let's see what we can do to help.

Are you running Falcon 4 with the Red Viper mod?

I also run in 1024x768, and the 3D pit works fine on my machine.

You might want to shoot an email to Aeyes, and post a thread on his website forum as well.

Good luck with it, it's a beautiful cockpit and a fun plane in the campaign!

Thanks for the help folks
Aeyes emailed me and it was because I had a space in the Falcon 4 install path which prevented the 3d cockpit installing
Thanks again

This is a terrific pit, well worth the $$, and it works great on my machine (after some frustration) in campaign mode, but is there a way to use it in Dogfight and Instant Action? If so, I haven't found it.

Sorry, I'm not sure if/how to use it in dogfight or instant action. I don't know how to change the plane from default F-16 in those modes.

However, last night I put together a quick fight in Tactical Engagement, and the Aeyes cockpits work fine in there.

I also bought the F-14 pit the other day (and am going to pick up the Mig-29 for sure, and probably the Hornet). I put together a TE with an F-14 vs. an F-15C, sidewinders and guns only. It took about 5 minutes to generate the flights, one plane per 'team', put both on DCA and drag waypoint 3 for both flights across each other. Save, boot up, commit and fight's on!

Very easy to do, and a lot of fun, and absolutely totally immersive with the beautiful Aeyes pits. Without a doubt some of the best simming money I have ever spent.

The Nevada campaign is a pretty cool free download from the PMC guys. I've been playing blue on blue in that campaign, using my new F-14 skins and cockpit from Aeyes, and generating TE's in there...sort of Red Flag/Topgun like. Great stuff!

Hopefully Aeyes doesn't mind the small thread hijack...

Wow, that rocks toonces. Sorry for the boneheaded question, but how did you put together a TE with the F-15 cockpit? I haven't done TE before.

Once the cockpit is in the F-15E folder, anytime you use the F-15E you will have the Aeyes cockpit.

I bought the F-14 as well, and when I fly using the F-14 in either campaign or TE, I have the F-14 pit.

So, if you build a TE, add a flight, change the plane type to F-15E, and when you enter the plane you'll have your Aeyes pit.
