I don't think it will be long before Inland Revenue and FSA start looking at this stuff, not to mention the contract lawyers ripping apart the EULA \:D

Welcome to the future: soon sizeable chunks of the population of the "connected" world will lead more important virtual lives than real lives. And why not?

hey, i wonder if this virtual space station can be severly damaged or blown up completely?

because...
here's a business opportunity for us! We can start a "security force" ;\) to protect his precious virtual space station for a small percentage of any profits he may earn from his purchase...it would be a shame if someone was to set fire to it!
;\)

I sent the project entropia website link listing Mr. Jacobs as an employee. The BBC responded and said that Mr. Jacobs told them he WAS NOT employed by Project Entropia and is merely a huge fan of the game...yeah, right! hehe

Excuse me? People spend real money on virtual computer goods and services? I'm aware I'm totally out of touch with the MMOG world, but geez...

What is the difference between that and buying a PC game . . . and then an expansion?

Lots. If my virtual character dies, I don't lose the value on my real expansion.

Expansions don't cost $100,000, either...

The guy who bought the station for $100,000 is listed on the company website as an employee (see post above for link). I don't believe that real money changed hands...call me a conspiracy theorist but I think this was done under the table to get publicity for the game.
