It leaves a load of questions about DM, guns, engines, and all that.

The 3D models... will the planes have what amounts to design elements? Will armor, engine, guns, ammo and fuel have intrinsic weight or will that be something assigned by the model maker? Can there be a Hurricane with the solidity of a B-17, speed of a 109K, firepower of a 190A-8 and range of a P-51D? Or will the inclusion of what it takes for the plane bring along the mass and associated problems?

And for me the big question that "other war" mentioned in one post by Oleg brings is:
-------------------------------------------------
Will 3rd parties be able to make WWI planes and ground objects? Because I've been waiting for this!

Maybe interested community can pony up shares to get models going or that expensive 3D package to an already proven and must be willing model maker in the RB3D community (hey, there's crossover!). I already know one whom I'd like to see step up and take Full Canvas to the next level.

Well if these maps are no bigger, and are the same size than the ONLINE MT map (med map) than I'll be satisfied... Just means I'll get to make little battle regions...

But yah, I really hope those mod tools are closely compatible for the Il2 series... it would be a shame if all this work (FB and PF) was overshadowed by what BoB will offer...

Just look at Falcon 4.0

That sim has made it through 8 years by just a bunch of community members researching and tweaking everything to the right specs...We're talking hours upon hours of doing everything to scale.
actually, F4 code was "stolen" (other words may apply too) and the guys developing it now are good, but fix their own standards, independantly. they can have stuff right, or not, it's up to them to decide whether it's ok or not...

in a "open to all" scenario, you get more something like CFS in those "open rooms"...

as for adding something to the BoB, well, in IL2 oleg stated more than once they had to rework almost every plane added, with the level of detail in BoB, chances are that no "free built" plane will make it into the game... they'll need to make them with oleg's team to be up to the required level IMO

basically, you'll have two games in one: one game with all sorts fo add-ons, like CFS, where online will be same as for CFS, and another one with planeset where you'll know what you're up against

anyway, if we read whaqt oleg said, they plan to release some tools for ground objects and small maps, but for planes, they have yet to see if they can and will do it as intended...

The availability of proper tolls will probably make farming work out to 3rd party modellers easier. By 3rd party I mean modellers that have been asked by Maddox to make certain maps or models.

From the pics of the BOB cockpits and models the development cycle must surely be slower, the level of detail is absolutely incredible.
