Thought I would answer some questions about Wings Over Vietnam really quick:

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Sorry, no
4) Resounding Yes

Hope that helps (grin).

OK, now to be a little more serious.

The game is a sim in the same vein as others made by TK and his crew at Thirdwire . They have been working on this one for a while now, and it is looking fantastic. Thridwire have taken the time to drastically increase the potency of there engine, and this game really shows it off. As you can see from the screen shots, carrier landing and takeoffs are just one of the many improvements.

For more information, screen shots, and what not the official site is WOVGame.com . The site will be updated with more shots and information as time allows.

Someone asked for a screenshot of a cockpit…here you go, this is from the F 105.

Yabsolutely beautiful. Awsum

Speaking of J~75, a few F~106 were deployed to Vietnam...and were mock~rigged to carry bombs (to play mind games on an inspecting General or something) ;\)

Now what exactly does the fancy "tape gauge" give you that is so important? Cause there it looks like 6 black lines. Nice pit though, wish I had that for my D model in SFP1.

They say the tape guages are the easiest to use. Needle just goes up and down instead of round and round. Kinda like the Su~27 fuel guage from Flaker sim, but that is split into two tapes that overlap, bizzaro.

IIRC the tape gauges were much easier to read when going low and fast, which was very bumpy.

Flyable A-6 = Joe buys this sim, automatically. A Yankee station sim with A-6 ops is my flight sim dream. If said A-6 comes with DIANE and appropriate bombing modes / weapons selector switches, I might even stop flying JF-18, at least temporarily. \:\)

Absolutelly agree Joe ;\)
Hope that DIANE is modeled...

This would be the second sim ever to model an A-6B out the box. The first was Flight of the Intruder.

Still the best encarnation of the Vietnam War in a sim IMHO.

Here's a description of DIANE :

Quote:

DIANE System

Digital Integrated Attack Navigation Equipment

AN/APQ-92
Main search radar, provide both a navigation and attack facility

AN/APQ-122
Tracking radar for terrain mapping and traget location

AN/APN-141
Low altitude (up to 1524m -5000 ft) radar altimeter

AN/APN-153
Doppler radar for navigation and to provide ground speed and drift angles for ballistic computer

AN/ANS-31
Inertial navigation system, provide data on heading altitude and horizontal and vertical velocities

AN/ASQ-57
Integrated electronic control system

AN/ASQ-61
Ballistic Computer, provides flight pattern data, cruise control and data for weapons selection, fuzing and delivery

AN/ASW-16
Three axis autopilot

AN/AVA-1
Pilots display unit, provide data on flight parameters, such as terrain clearance

CPA-728A
Air data computer which provides altitude static pressure, Mach number and airspeed information for the ASW-16, the AVA-1 and the conventional flight instrument
I have to say I don't envy the avionics programmer, although I'm sure a lot of it can be abstracted in the game.

Why do you think the B airframe will be modeled? The A bore the brunt of the work in SEA, while the B was configured for a SEAD role (it could carry STARMs and Shrikes).

Im curious how will carrier landing be modeled? They dont have a screenshot on approach. Because of the minimal level of comms in SFP1, I dont expect LSO calls but will there be a christmas tree and meatball or just the AoA indexes in the cockpit? Will the "boat" be moving? There's more to carrier ops than a landing strip on the water.

I have absolutely no idea if the B version will be in the game or not, but both the Shrike and Standard ARM are already in Strike Fighters so it doesn't seem impossible.

Oops, sorry I thought the B was the most common during the Vietnam War, but You are right.

Then aggain since SEAD weapons are allready modeled in SF:P1 we might get both versions ;\) .

And I want to fly SEAD missions a la Flight of the Intruder´s Hollywood incarnation... \:D \:D

Curious about this myself. If there is no mission builder and a way to fly custom made missions then that's a huge let down for me. A big part of Multiplayer is flying custom coops and custom head to head missions.IMO
